Astro Tacoma Ribbed Glass Shade

The Astro Tacoma Ribbed Glass Shade is a decorative replacement glass globe from Astros Tacoma range. The clear, spherical shade is formed in glass and is intended as a textured diffuser for pendant and ceiling fittings where a refined, tactile finish is required.

Its defining feature is a dense, horizontal ribbed pattern: concentric grooves wrap the full circumference of the orb to create an architectural, tiered surface. The shade is specified with a 135mm diameter and the ribbing gives the piece a distinctive profile compared with smooth glass globes.

Made in clear glass, the shade emphasises material clarity and surface detail. The uniform ridges provide a tactile finish and retain a clear appearance when unlit, allowing the texture to contribute to a scheme even without illumination. The base includes a small circular opening for mounting onto a lamp holder or socket.

Functionally the ribbed texture refracts and scatters light from an internal bulb, helping to reduce direct glare while producing a subtle play of light and shadow. The result is a soft, ambient diffusion suitable for general and decorative lighting layers.
